For this project, I used my Solidworks stills not so much for the aesthetics but instead for to determine how it goes together and what scale to use. I found scaling very difficult in this project as I was initially referring to the scale of nest of tables but in the end I found the relation between cow stool and calf stool justified the final sizing as it was clear one was supposed to be protecting the other.
Printing in a 1:1 scale helped in the workshop to create templates for the desired shape of my stool.
It helped on the lathe to create the same shape for all my legs and determine angles on the outstretched ones.
Explosion views helped for the final assembly of the prototype.
Overall, all the cow shape turned out larger that I had imagined, the smaller calf looks so small in comparison that them of protection for her young can be seen clearly. Therefore although one is considerably bigger than the other they do have an adult and child flavour.
