Although we spent close to an hour lining up for the Nendo and Jil Sanders collaboration, to say it wasn't spectacular would be a bold faced lie. In amongst the collection I definitely saw a theme of movement and subtly the way Nendo does best.
This Nendo exhibition was breath-taking. With the whole room filled with shapes to mimic people walking with the audience walking round was a great way of using less material. Although these are only thin pieces of metal strips, they have a body from a far. After watching the distinctive way in which cows move and how their bodies follow this movement I wondered whether taking Nendo's line work as inspiration for my piece.
The jellyfish vases make use of a small piece of material and the natural flow of water. Nendo uses the water to give the vase shape and natural calming movement.
The series of line work made 2D outlines become 3D bodies. Using Nendo as an inspiration I wonder whether the body could have either a skeleton or an external skeleton to create the form I want.
